Teck Wee is a co-founder of GOH JP & WONG LLC and hold an LLB (Hons) from the National University of Singapore. He was called to the Bar in 1995. His practice is both civil and criminal litigation and his experience in litigation is wide and diverse, ranging from insurance claims, contractual disputes between main contractors and subcontractors, landlord-tenant disputes and criminal offences.
His practice has a special emphasis on personal injury claim related litigation work. In this regard, he handles motor accident as well as industrial accident claims. In a case involving a claim by a senior medical practitioner who was injured in a motor accident, he successfully resisted two appeals by the insurers concerned to reduce the damages awarded, both at the High Court and Court of Appeal level, in the reported decision of Tan Boon Heng v Lau Pang Cheng David [2013] SGCA 48. This case was the first instance wherein Court of Appeal laid down the guiding principles and the appropriate standard when an award of damages may be reversed by a higher court on appeal.
